Administrator-Pensions Office-University of Limerick
Unijobs DAC are currently recruiting for an Administrator for the Pensions Office within the University of Limerick. The position is temporary, full time, working 35 hours per week. The rate of pay is €18.40 per hour. The position is initially anticipated to be until the end of December 2025, with the possibility of extension thereafter.
Job Description
The purpose of this position is to provide high quality administrative support to the Pensions Section in the Human Resources Division. The role will involve interaction with internal and external customers. The ideal candidate will have experience of working within a busy, confidential and collaborative environment, with strong organisation, numeracy and problem solving skills. The Pensions Administrator will be jointly responsible for the administration of all aspects of the University's pension schemes and related benefits, and the provision of a top quality client focussed service in the area of pensions and related matters.
The key roles and responsibilities are as follows:
The Key Responsibilities of this post will include, but will not be limited to:
- Ensure the effective administration of the University's Pension Schemes in accordance with University Statutes, legislative requirements, Pensions Authority and Government guidelines
- Manage the administration of the Pension Schemes with a membership of approximately 1,700 staff and 520 retired members of staff, including communications with staff/retirees, provision of annual benefit statements, costing calculations,transfer options and up-to-date documentation on the various schemes
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders in relation to pensions activities, including other institutions in relation to transfers of pensionable service
- Organise information seminars on a scheduled basis, including booking rooms, arranging speakers and maintaining attendance logs
- Administer and promote the associate benefits schemes (Additional Voluntary Contribution (AVC), Additional Life Cover and Income Continuance Plan) to staff including timely communications regarding changes, addressing member queries,processing member applications and monthly reporting
- Manage the relationship with the administrators/trustees of all pension schemes and other external service providers
- Maintain and monitor information systems to facilitate efficient administration of the pension schemes and other benefits,and to provide management information, including Pensions testing for upgrades and ad-hoc and annual year end updates
- Compile monthly reports
- Maintain the Pension section of the HR website and act as the Sharepoint Champion for Pensions
- Back up for Pensions Manager as required
Essential Requirements
- Demonstrable high levels of accuracy and attention to detail
- Working knowledge of computerised information packages E.g. Core Modules, Docuware, Sharepoint, BI reports
- Demonstrated ability to work on own initiative, and high levels of self-motivation
- High level of analytical and numerical skills
- A flexible approach to work
- Experience in a wide variety of office applications
- Minimum of 2 years relevant experience in a direct customer service role, preferably in a Higher Education setting
- Leaving Certificate or equivalent

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including experience of working as part of a team
- Highly organised in management of both day-to-day and project work
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of the CoreHR system
- Knowledge of UL and HR Policies & Procedures
- Proven ability to work to strict deadlines
- Working in a HR/Pensions environment
